3. Blood: Absorb as much of the stain as you can, then mix one teaspoon of mild detergent and one teaspoon of white vinegar into one quart of warm water. Apply this solution to the spot and let it dry. Afterwards apply a dry-cleaning fluid and vacuum gently after the carpet is dry.
4. Butter: Scrape up excess butter then apply dry-cleaning fluid and let it dry. If the spot remains, repeat this process and vacuum gently.
5. Candle wax: Press an ice cube against the wax so it will harden and can be pulled off.
6. Chewing gum: Harden the gum by pressing an ice cube to the surface and then pull off.
7. Chocolate: Scrape the chocolate from the carpet and mix together one one teaspoon of mild detergent, one teaspoon of white vinegar and one quart of warm water. Apply this solution to the spot, rinse well and vacuum gently.
8. Coffee: Quickly blot the spill. Mix one teaspoon of mild detergent, one teaspoon of white vinegar and one quart of warm water. Apply this mixture to the spot and let it dry. Then apply dry-cleaning fluid and vacuum gently after the carpet has dried.
9. Crayon: Scrape away the crayon or remove it by placing a blotter over the crayon stain and using a warm iron to press and absorb the melted crayon. Move the blotter frequently so it doesn’t get oversaturated. Apply a dry-cleaning fluid, let the carpet dry and vacuum gently. Next time the kids draw with crayons put something down to cover the carpet and prevent future stains!
10. Fruit: Act quickly to prevent a permanent stain by scraping up excess spilled fruit and absorbing the fruit juice. Mix one teaspoon of mild detergent, one teaspoon of white vinegar and one quart of warm water. Apply this solution to the spot and elt it dry. If the spot remains just repeat the process and vacuum gently.
11. Mud: Allow the mud to dry completely and then brush or scrape off the excess. Mix one teaspoon of mild detergent, one teaspoon of white vinegar and one quart of warm water. Apply this to the area and let it dry. If the stain remains apply dry-cleaning fluid and blot dry. When the spot is completely dry, try vacuuming gently.
12. Salad dressing: Absorb excess dressing and then mix together one teaspoon of mild detergent, one teaspoon of white vinegar and one quart of warm water. Apply this solution to the stain and let it dry. If the stain remains, repeat and vacuum gently.
13. Soft drinks: Act fast to prevent dyes from the drinks to permanently stain your carpet. Blot up excess spilled drink and mix together one teaspoon of mild detergent, one teaspoon of white vinegar and one quart of warm water. Apply the solution to the stain and let it dry. If the stain remains, repeat the process and vacuum gently.
14. Vomit: Treat this stain quickly. Blot as much as you can and then dilute with baking soda and water or club soda. Apply a solution of one part ammonia and 10 parts water. Then rinse with cold water, let dry and vacuum.
15. Wine: Dilute with white wine, and then clean the spot with cold water and cover with table salt. Wait 10 minutes and then vacuum up the salt.
